We Have Plans!
Most of our regulars know our story. How we purchased the assets of a failing meal assembly store in the summer of 2008 and of how we floundered as we failed to differentiate our products and services from the business that preceded us. In October of 2008 the revolution began, that being the biggest recession since the Great Depression. We just died. The cash ran out. Our attempts to start a bakery and patisserie floundered. In the spring of 2009 we realized we had failed and we ran out of things to sell in order to … Read the rest »
Yogurt Anybody?
on Thursday, May 26, 2011Things moved very quickly last month in the “Janet’s Irish Pub” department. Just when we got our plans into final form and were meeting contractors we bumped up against a fellow with the intention of opening a “serve yourself frozen yogurt” shop. He stepped up and made an offer to lease the space next door. So, for now, it appears that “the next big thing” will be yogurt, and not “Janet’s Irish Pub”.
One of my life’s guiding philosophies is that it is very difficult to make lemonade without lemons. Frankly, doubling the size of the business by adding on … Read the rest »
Janet’s Irish Pub & David’s Life As A Visionary
on Thursday, May 26, 2011People think it’s easy to be me, and, well… I guess they’re right. I have a pretty good gig as the BT “Director of Customer Experience”. For some reason it seems like it’s easier for me than it is for the people around me, but I can’t explain it. You could ask them but they’re too busy getting the work done to think about it. Regardless, it hasn’t always been a picnic.

Janet’s Irish Pub
on Tuesday, May 4, 2010Is a Man-Cave Still A Man-Cave If Your Wife Can See You?
We have some preliminary plans drawn that illustrate how we would like to expand into the space next door. Janet’s Chicago-Irish-Democrat roots are showing… she wants an Irish pub. With 40’ of storefront the space isn’t much of a “man-cave”, as an Irish pub seems to call for, so maybe we’ll theme it as an Irish Inn. We want it to be family friendly so we have a place to serve folks when the restaurant is sold out for special events. The expansion would essentially double our space. … Read the rest »
