Valentine's Day at Bethany's Table

The theme for Valentine’s Day at the Table this year should be titled, “Been There – Done That!” Janet has created a menu inspired by her recent travels to Italy, Switzerland and Mexico. Another subtitle might be, “Freestyle Chef Gone Wild!”27710280_10155259282953302_4089731207981707953_oThe dinner begins with a toast of sparkling wine and a selection of amuse-bouche – five finally crafted tidbits to get you in the mood and tantalize your palate for the meal yet to arrive. For the next course you may choose between a clarified tomato soup bursting with the flavor of fresh summer tomatoes and garnished with cucumber salsa, or enjoy a delicate salad made with assorted greens, micro vegetables and chèvre with a Merlot vinaigrette. The third course affords a choice between a few of Janet’s travel favorites. You may select Italy - a vegetarian pasta dish made with festive red ravioli, premium cheese and a walnut-sage butter. Head for Mexico and enjoy spicy warm shrimp stuffed into a half-avocado. And there’s Janet’s frequent destination: Switzerland, which inspires Raclette – cheese melted over fingerling potatoes with black pepper, prosciutto and a pickled mix of cornishons, onions and mushrooms.29112_beef_wellingtonThere will be four choices for the fourth course. You may want to choose the potato-crusted salmon with asparagus, or have the Beef Wellington. Not inspired yet? Well maybe try the Pistachio-crusted Rack of Lamb! Still can’t make up your mind? Well then just order the Surf & Turf. This is Janet’s foodie-show-off selection. The “Surf” offering is a warm octopus and tangy, rich white bean salad. The “Turf” goes all out with venison loin with a port-blackberry demi. You will be decidedly content by now, but we’re not done with you. Polish off your meal with a choice of dessert. Perhaps you just want a little cheese to enjoy with a final glass of wine. (Each course will have recommended pairings!) The Chocolate Mousse will be a popular choice, as with the pear and apple cobbler – though David is working on a bread pudding recipe that he is hoping to put up as a contender.View a copy of the full menu here. We look forward to seeing a sea of lovers again this year. This is one night each year that Janet and her staff pull out all the stops. We strive to make your night special. Please join us.
