Chef Janet’s Signature Spice Cake Doughnut Recipe
The same recipe Janet has been making every Christmas morning for her family for the last twenty years, or so.
“I have tried all kinds of doughnut recipes, and this one is the doughnut of my dreams. I’m not sure why I am so enamored with doughnuts, but I love them fresh and hot from the fryer.”
And she's right; These donuts are warm, fluffy on the inside, cripsy on the outside and just perfectly sweet.

Ingredients:
3 1/2 cups flour
1 tbsp + 1 and 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground allspice
1/2 tsp ground ginger
Pinch of five-spice powder
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
1 cup milk
1/4 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon salt
Vegetable oil, for deep-frying
2 cups granulated sugar or powdered sugar, for dredging
